Canada Day Parade 2026
On July 1, 2026, BCCS participated in the East York Canada Day Parade. Our staff and members began the day with chai and croissants at the BCCS office before travelling together by TTC to Dieppe Park. Bus tickets were also provided for our valued senior members.
Wearing BCCS Canada Day T-shirts and proudly carrying our banners and flags, we marched from Dieppe Park to Trenton Avenue and O’Connor Drive. Participating in the East York Canada Day Parade has been a longstanding BCCS tradition. Each year, we provide Canada Day T-shirts and refreshments to all participating members as we celebrate this joyful summer occasion together.
The parade was also an excellent opportunity for newcomers and senior citizens to learn about and appreciate the meaning and importance of Canada Day.

Pitha Utshob Day 2026
For many years, the BCCS Pitha Utsob has been one of the signature fundraising events of Bangladesh Centre & Community Services (BCCS). It has always represented more than food — it reflects our culture, our roots, our memories, and the warmth of our community. This year’s Pitha Utsob was a little different. Instead of a formal fundraising event, it was organized as a Potluck gathering. Community members came with homemade pitha, food, stories, laughter, music, poetry, and heartfelt connection. It became an evening of togetherness — a beautiful reminder that community is built not only through big events, but also through shared food, shared memories, and shared love.
BCCS sincerely thanks everyone who attended, brought food, participated, volunteered, and helped make this year’s gathering meaningful and enjoyable. We also acknowledge with gratitude those who originally helped start and nurture this wonderful tradition at BCCS. Their vision and dedication made Pitha Utsob a beloved community event over the years. We promise that next year’s BCCS Pitha Utsob will return in a bigger, more colourful, and more organized way — once again as one of our major community fundraising events.
Rooted in tradition, strengthened by community — BCCS Pitha Utsob will come back even grander next year.
English Conversation
Lesson
BCCS’s English Conversation Class helps newcomers build confidence using English in everyday situations.
Led by our newly hired student workers, the classes cover practical topics such as introducing yourself, speaking with a doctor, asking for directions, making appointments and phone calls, and communicating at work, school, and in the community.
Through welcoming and supportive lessons, participants can strengthen their conversational skills, practise speaking with others, and become more comfortable using English in their daily lives.

Sewing Lessons
BCCS’s sewing course has brought together a dedicated group of members who have been meeting weekly for the past two months. This non-funded course will be coming to an end soon and will restart with a new group of participants.
The course is led by our (# instructors, Name and Name), who are highly skilled in traditional Bangladeshi sewing and embroidery techniques. Participants learn how to sew blouses, salwar kameez, and other forms of cultural attire.
The course also provides lessons in a wide range of practical skills, including sewing machine operation, beading, and traditional Bangladeshi embroidery.
National Flag Raising Day 2025
.
BCCS President Shebu Chowdary, along with the rest of the BCCS team, took the initiative to host a vibrant Bangla New Year rally in Toronto. This special event brought together many people from our community to celebrate Bengali culture and welcome the new year. The rally was filled with various cultural activities and expressions, creating a warm and festive atmosphere. We thank our dedicated volunteers and all who attended for making this a wonderful opportunity to share and celebrate our heritage.

BCCS Picnic 2025
BCCS proudly organize a delightful picnic event at Taylor Creek Park. This festive gathering was attended by many, including numerous seniors from our community. The event offered various activities and food options for all ages. We enjoyed music, a seniors' dance event, recitation, and heartfelt speeches.
A prize distribution was also held to honor the most engaged participants. We thank the local vendors once again for granting us a part in this opportunity.
